Wine Description:
The Umberto Cesari Emilia Romagna Sangiovese Riserva 2021 is a premium red wine that showcases the full potential of the Sangiovese grape from Italy’s renowned Emilia Romagna region. Crafted from only the finest hand-selected grape clusters, this wine offers an inviting bouquet with intense aromas of ripe cherries, complemented by delicate floral notes of violets, and the richness of chocolate, vanilla, and subtle spice nuances.
On the palate, this Sangiovese Riserva delivers a full-bodied, complex profile, marked by firm tannins that provide structure and longevity. The wine's depth is enhanced by a long, rich finish, making it a true representation of the region’s heritage and winemaking excellence.
The fermentation process took place in temperature-controlled vats, with regular punching down of the cap to extract the desired color, flavor, and tannins. The wine then spent 24 months aging in large 30-hectolitre barrels made from a blend of Italian and Slavonian oak, contributing additional layers of complexity and a balanced texture.

Perfect Pairings: This elegant and structured red wine pairs wonderfully with a variety of rich dishes, including grilled meats, braised lamb, aged cheeses, and hearty pastas with robust sauces. Its bold character also makes it an excellent match for charcuterie and roasted vegetables.

Winery | The finest Sangiovese grapes were carefully selected from the estate's hillside vineyard and picked at their peak maturity level. The vines have an average age of 15 years and are grown in medium-textured clay soils, yielding approximately eight tonnes per hectare. Umberto Cesari was one of the first wineries in Emilia Romagna to be awarded the SQNPI, the national Italian quality scheme for Integrated Production. This sustainability certificate recognises the use of integrated production techniques in cultivating the vineyards, which are tended with knowledge, patience and dedication. Cover grasses protect the soil from erosion and destruction while encouraging biodiversity. At every stage of the vine’s life cycle, the best techniques, which are always totally natural, are adopted to guarantee the plant's health and an optimal environment. |
