Wine Description:
The Tramin Stoan Alto Adige 2023 is a beautifully crafted wine that offers a unique balance of elegance and complexity. This white wine is an intriguing blend of four different grape varieties—Chardonnay (65%), Sauvignon Blanc (20%), Pinot Blanc (10%), and Gewürztraminer (5%). It is an exceptional expression of the Alto Adige region, with the perfect harmony of fruity, floral, and mineral notes.
On the nose, the wine greets you with aromas of ripe peach, juicy pear, and delicate elderflower, alongside subtle hints of Jasmine. These fragrant scents lead into a richly textured palate, where the fruity profile deepens with the addition of pineapple and pear flavours, all beautifully interwoven with mineral undertones that reflect the unique terroir of Alto Adige.
The mouthfeel is full-bodied, and the wine exhibits a lingering finish that is both creamy and long-lasting, leaving a lasting impression. Its well-balanced acidity elevates the vibrant fruit notes, creating a refreshing, yet substantial wine that is equally enjoyable on its own or paired with a variety of dishes.
Vintage Notes:
The 2023 vintage was marked by above-average temperatures during the spring, leading to early budding, followed by an extended period of high temperatures in May that accelerated the flowering process. Despite extreme heat stages throughout the summer, the careful vineyard management, coupled with timely showers, ensured the vines remained healthy. As a result, the harvest began almost two weeks earlier than usual, and the grapes reached exceptional quality due to ideal weather conditions.
This vintage is characterized by refined fruit notes and a well-balanced acidity, making it a standout in the world of Italian white wines.
Ideal Pairing:
The Tramin Stoan Alto Adige 2023 is a versatile wine that pairs wonderfully with a variety of dishes, including seafood, grilled vegetables, fresh salads, and white meats. Its complexity also makes it a perfect companion for creamy cheeses or a flavorful pasta dish.

Winery | This region owes its Italian name of 'Alto-Adige' to the river Adige that flows through on its way to the Adriatic Sea. The 10 to 40-year-old vines are grown at over 400 metres, mostly between 500 to 600 metres above sea level. The climate is characterised by the extreme interplay of sunny days influenced by the Mediterranean climate and cool nights marked by the cold downslope winds from the surrounding mountains. The vineyard soils are gravelly to rocky with limestone and loam and are rich in minerals. It is this stone-rich soil that gives this wine its name: in the local dialect, it is referred to as "stoan." Cantina Tramin was founded in 1898 and has 310 member winegrowers who follow its strict directives on cultivating the vines. The vineyards are an integral part of the enchanting and picturesque landscape of the Alto-Adige region of Northern Italy and cover 260 hectares on the sunny slopes of the region at altitudes ranging from 250 to 850 meters above sea level. In 2011, Cantina Tramin gained the "Double Stella" award. This is given to a winery for achieving the prestigious "3 Bicchieri" 20 times and is awarded by the Gambero Rosso. |
