Buy Torbreck Descendant Barossa Valley 2018 – Premium Australian Shiraz Online

A Rich, Iconic Barossa Valley Shiraz-Viognier Blend

The Torbreck Descendant Barossa Valley 2018 is a flagship expression of the Barossa’s signature Shiraz. Crafted by renowned producer Torbreck, this vintage is a luxurious blend of 93% Shiraz and 7% Viognier, grown from dry-farmed, old-vine fruit on estate vineyards.

Aged for 20 months in second-fill French oak barriques (previously used for Torbreck’s iconic RunRig), this wine delivers a captivating balance of aromatic intensity, fruit depth, and structural finesse. This is a must-have for collectors and connoisseurs seeking to buy fine Australian Shiraz online or invest in age-worthy red wines from Barossa Valley.

Tasting Notes: Torbreck Descendant 2018

Expect an intensely dark garnet colour, with expressive aromas of lifted florals, violets, and exotic spice. The nose opens into waves of blackberry, plum, and mulberry, with undertones of black pepper and cedar.

On the palate, the wine is powerful yet poised. Viognier skins add a firm tannin structure, creating a unique grip and length that will reward extended cellaring. A polished mouthfeel and seamless integration of oak result in a complex, age-worthy Shiraz with elegance and depth.

The vision of Torbreck Vintners, which was founded in 1994, was born out of a desire to create some of the greatest wines in the world by using the ancient, dry-grown Shiraz vineyards that surround the Barossa Valley. Securing these vineyards initially involved share-farming the property, which involves paying the owner a percentage of the market rate for their grapes in return for managing the vineyard. This share-farming principle, together with their selection of some of the most highly prized vineyards, formed the founding pillars of Torbreck’s incredible international success. The vineyards, in particular, enabled them to source some of the very best fruit in the Barossa Valley, home to some of the world's oldest and most precious vines. Provenance is everything to Torbreck. They believe that the Barossa Valley, with its gentle Mediterranean climate and 175-year Silesian and English winemaking history, is the most exciting place in the world to make wine. A European sense of tradition here means that vines planted in the 1840s – many of them Rhone varieties such as Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvédre – still thrive and bear fruit of unique concentration and flavour.
