Discover Thierry Drouin Plaisance Saint-Veran 2023: A Classic Burgundy Chardonnay
The Thierry Drouin Plaisance Saint-Veran 2023 is a refined and expressive white wine that showcases the best of Burgundy’s terroir. Crafted exclusively from 100% Chardonnay, this wine offers a beautifully balanced blend of floral aromas, citrus zest, and ripe yellow fruit notes. The delicate bouquet invites you into a world of elegance, with aromas of fresh flowers leading into a complex palate filled with vibrant lemony acidity, and a mineral structure that highlights the classic style of the Mâconnais region.
The 2022 vintage, marked by sunny weather during the growing season, allowed the grapes to ripen early, contributing to a harvest with an ideal balance of acidity and fruit concentration. Spring rains replenished soil moisture, ensuring a harmonious development of the fruit, which is evident in the wine’s refreshing, crisp profile. The end result is a wine that’s open, expressive, and bursting with minerality — perfect for those who appreciate the vibrant character of cool-climate Chardonnay.

Winery | The Chardonnay grapes come from a blend of plots at the bottom of the finest slopes of the Saint-Veran appellation, neighbouring the vineyards of Pouilly-Fuisse. The vines are planted at 150 to 250 metres with various orientations and exposures to impart aromatic complexity. The soils are rich in limestone, which is generally alkaline, and produce bright, crisp wines with renowned elegance and expressive aromatics. The vines are pruned according to the simple Guyot method, which produces a balanced yield, with green harvesting taking place to keep yields low and concentrate the flavours in the grapes. The vineyard is ploughed mechanically, and every other row is left with grass cover to encourage biodiversity. |
