Tasting Notes: Elegant, Velvety, and Full of Character
This Biferno Rosso opens with ripe red fruit aromas, including cherries and raspberries, followed by subtle spice and woodland undertones. On the palate, it's warm and harmonious, showcasing a velvety texture and a long, satisfying finish. Gentle tannins and a balanced acidity make it an ideal companion for a variety of dishes or to enjoy on its own.
Traditional Winemaking for a Modern Palate
Grapes are hand-harvested and whole fermented in stainless steel tanks with selected yeasts at controlled temperatures (26–28°C). After a week-long fermentation, the wine is gently pressed and matured in French tonneaux for 12 months, followed by four months of bottle ageing. The result is a refined red wine that offers both depth and approachability.

Winery | The Bosco della Guardia is a Mediterranean spot in the high hills that separates the best vineyards and is planted in Montepulciano and Aglianico. The vines are grown in the San Martino in the Pensilis subzone of the Biferno Rosso DOC in Molise, Southern Central Italy. Located at altitudes of 150 metres above sea level, the vineyard covers 1.5 hectares of medium-textured, clay-rich soils. The vines were planted in 2003 at a density of 4,200 per hectare and are cordon-trained and spur-pruned. The climate is Mediterranean, with warm, dry summers and mild winters. The vineyard is heavily influenced by its proximity to the Adriatic Sea; the coastal winds breeze through the vines, aerating the canopy, keeping the vines healthy, providing the vineyard with gentle humidity, and cooling the vines throughout the hot, dry summers. The vineyard is cultivated sustainably and is working toward the Equalitas certification. Harvesting takes place in mid-October when the fruit has reached optimal ripeness. |
