An Exquisite Red Wine from Italy’s Hidden Gem – Molise
Tenimenti Grieco 200 Metri Rosso Tintilia del Molise 2023 is a distinctive and aromatic red wine crafted from 100% Tintilia grapes, a rare and indigenous variety found only in the Molise region of southern Italy. This premium Italian red wine offers a unique tasting experience with a profile that is both elegant and expressive.
Hand-harvested and vinified with meticulous care by winemaker Maria Concetta Raimondo, this vintage captures the essence of Molise’s terroir. Expect vibrant aromas of ripe cherry, plum, and spicy undertones, layered with herbal notes and a whisper of Mediterranean scrub.
On the palate, the wine reveals a soft, silky texture with refined tannins and a persistent finish rich in red fruit. The fermentation, carried out in stainless steel tanks with selected yeasts at controlled temperatures (26°C), ensures maximum aromatic integrity. After a gentle two-week maceration and light pressing, the wine was matured for four months in steel to preserve its natural freshness.

Winery | The vines are grown in the San Martino in the Pensilis subzone of DOC Molise in Southern Central Italy. Located at altitudes 300 metres above sea level, the vineyard covers 4.5 hectares of medium-textured soils where the Tintilia vines thrive. Tintilia is a rare variety, unique to Molise and closest to the region's signature variety. Taking its name from its dark-coloured berries, the black-skinned variety is very low-yielding and was progressively abandoned and replaced with higher-yielding varieties. Although only grown in tiny quantities, it is reviving, producing high-quality wines with excellent structure and acidity. The Tenimenti Grieco vines were planted in 2008 at a density of 4,200 per hectare and are spur-cordon trained. The climate is Mediterranean, with warm, dry summers and mild winters. The vineyard is heavily influenced by its proximity to the Adriatic Sea; the coastal winds breeze through the vines, aerating the canopy and keeping the vines healthy. The vineyard is cultivated sustainably and is working towards the Equalitas certification. Harvesting occurs at the end of September when the fruit has reached optimal ripeness. The wine's name translates as 200 metres, which refers to the minimum altitude above sea level. The production regulations require planting the vines to produce the so-called hilltop grape of Tintilia Molise DOC. |
