The Peterson Winery Zero Manipulation Tollini Vineyard Redwood Valley 2017 is a beautifully crafted red wine showcasing the remarkable terroir of Mendocino County. A blend of 73% Carignan, 22% Grenache, and 5% Syrah, this wine delivers an enchanting balance of complexity and freshness.
On the nose, the wine offers inviting aromas of wild red fruits—raspberry, strawberry, and pomegranate—mingling with subtle hints of spice and a rustic minerality. The palate is equally captivating, presenting luscious layers of juicy red berries, delicate floral notes, and a touch of liquorice. The wine’s finish is clean and structured, with a soft, lingering persistence that highlights its elegant nature.
Despite the challenges of the 2017 vintage, which included a drought and heatwave in early September, the grapes were largely unaffected by the wine-country fires. As a result, this wine demonstrates remarkable concentration and balance, showcasing the best of the Tollini Vineyard’s fruit.

| Winery | The Tollini Vineyard is located in Mendocino County's Redwood Valley and has been in the Tollini family for three generations, now in the hands of Alvin Tollini. The Zero Manipulation Blend is made predominantly of Carignan, where the vines are traditionally head-trained and dry-farmed. Alvin Tollini’s father and grandfather originally planted the blocks, and old-vine, low-yielding Carignan remains from the original plantings produce concentrated, flavoursome fruit. Alvin’s father added to the acreage after he returned from WWII. Alvin planted the Syrah and Grenache using the same time-honoured techniques and sustainable approach, and they add layers of depth, complexity, and balance to the blend. The vines are planted on southwest-facing benches in the Redwood Valley and are cultivated with a meticulously sustainable approach. The only treatment used in the vineyard is sulphur dusting if required, and the vines are harvested by hand. |
