| Winery | Bordered by Meursault to the north and Chassagne Montrachet to the south, the Puligny Montrachet appellation is at the heart of the world's finest Chardonnay terroir, including the famous Montrachet. Situated just above the 'Campaigns' at 350 meters elevation, on limestone and marl soil, the 1er Cru 'Garenne' vineyard benefits from an ideal south-easterly exposure. The Guyot-trained vines are over 50 years old, and the tiny plot covers just 0.30 hectares. At one time, a 'Garenne' was a piece of wood surrounded by walls owned by the lords for hunting small game, particularly rabbits. The vineyard is cultivated sustainably and is HVE-certified. Research is being conducted to analyze the soil’s geology to measure the impact of the cultivation decisions on the vine and the resulting wine. The grapes are hand-harvested at optimum maturity. |
