Vineyard and Terroir: Sustainably Grown in Darling, South Africa

NOUGHTY Rouge is made from 100% Syrah grapes grown in Darling, a renowned coastal wine region of South Africa. The vineyards benefit from the cooling Atlantic breezes and the Benguela Current, which prolongs the growing season and intensifies flavour development.

Dry-farmed, bush-trained vines thrive in clay-rich decomposed granite soils, ensuring even ripening and excellent drainage. Sustainable farming practices preserve the region’s biodiversity, with tight controls on herbicides and pesticides.

Winemaking: Innovative and Gentle Dealcoholisation

The Syrah grapes are harvested by hand at peak ripeness, then fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with selected yeasts to retain varietal purity. After gentle pressing and crossflow filtration, the wine is matured for six months with oak stave influence to enhance complexity.

To remove the alcohol without stripping flavour, NOUGHTY Rouge is dealcoholised using spinning cone technology and vacuum distillation—a technique pioneered in Germany by Carl Jung. This method preserves the wine’s natural aromas and depth, resulting in a sophisticated alcohol-free alternative.
