First Vintage Post-Domaine Maume Acquisition
Marchand-Tawse’s 2012 Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru is a rare collector’s item and a highly limited production from Burgundy’s prestigious Côte de Nuits. With only around 600 bottles produced, this was the first vintage following Pascal Marchand and Moray Tawse’s acquisition of Domaine Maume, marking a significant moment in modern Burgundy winemaking.
This vintage has garnered acclaim for its rich, expressive profile while offering notable cellaring potential.
Tasting Notes: 2012 Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru
This Grand Cru Pinot Noir opens with a floral-driven bouquet of ripe redcurrant and dark plum, though oak influence is notable, creating a tension between fruit and wood on the nose. The palate is lush, fleshy, and medium-bodied, offering ripe fruit and a silky texture. The finish lingers with persistence, though some critics prefer the complexity of sibling cuvée, Levant. Nonetheless, this remains a compelling Burgundy with distinct terroir expression and ageing capacity.
Score: 90–92 Points – Allen Meadows, Burghound
Drinking Window: From 2024 onwards
Why Buy Marchand-Tawse Mazoyères-Chambertin 2012?
H2: A Burgundy Collector’s Dream – Rare and Historic Vintage
As the debut vintage under Tawse ownership, this wine represents an important transition for Domaine Maume and a noteworthy chapter in Burgundy’s modern evolution. With very limited availability, especially in its original case and in bond format, this is a top-tier wine investment opportunity.
H2: Fine Wine for Cellaring and Collecting
Only 600 bottles were produced in 2012, making this Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru a scarce and highly desirable label for Burgundy collectors and fine wine investors. The 2012 vintage across Burgundy has been praised for its balance of power and finesse, and this cuvée delivers exactly that.

Richard S., Edinburgh
“This is classic Côte de Nuits Pinot. The oak was a little present on opening, but with decanting it showed its full aromatic depth. A top-tier investment bottle.”

Winery | 2012 Mazoyères-Chambertin: The wood is no longer subtle as it fights with the otherwise fresh and layered nose of distinctly floral-inflected ripe red currant and plum aromas. There is a lush and fleshy mouth feel to the equally ripe middle-weight flavours that are delicious but don’t quite have the same depth on the lingering finish. To be sure, this is perfectly good, but I prefer the overall complexity of the Levant. 90-92 points Allen Meadows, Burghound /2024+ |
