Tasting Notes
On the nose, this Chardonnay opens with intense citrus aromas, intertwined with classic soft fruit notes of pear and apple, complemented by the delicate fragrance of jasmine. Subtle hints of walnut, honey, and vanilla round out the bouquet, offering a rich and aromatic experience. The palate is impeccably balanced, with crisp acidity that highlights the freshness of the wine. A distinct minerality gives the wine an elegant, almost tactile texture, while the concentrated fruit flavors remain vibrant. The finish is clean, crisp, and citrus-driven, leaving a lasting impression of freshness.
Winemaking & Terroir
Crafted by acclaimed winemaker Samantha O'Keefe, the Lismore Greyton Estate Reserve Chardonnay 2022 benefits from the unique terroir of the Greyton region. The cool, coastal influence allows the grapes to ripen slowly, retaining natural acidity and offering a bright, mineral character. This wine is fermented in a combination of stainless steel and oak barrels, enhancing its complexity and richness without overpowering its naturally crisp structure.
Food Pairing
This Chardonnay pairs beautifully with seafood dishes, such as grilled lobster or seared scallops, as well as roasted poultry or creamy pasta dishes. Its vibrant acidity makes it an excellent match for goat cheese salads and fresh vegetable dishes.

Winery | Having pioneered a new extremely cool climate region in South Africa, Samantha chose to release an Estate Reserve range to illustrate what the vineyards are capable of. The wines are produced from very low-yielding vines. The vineyard is planted 300 meters above sea level in the foothills of the Sonderend Mountain Range. The vines are grown in decomposed shale over clay soils and are dry-farmed, contributing to the wine's deep concentration. Low mean temperatures during February contribute to an extended ripening period, resulting in a harvest period three to four weeks later than in traditional wine-growing regions in South Africa. The intense citrus notes and the lingering finish are consistent trademarks of Lismore's specific terroir. This Chardonnay's distinctive minerality indicates the cool climate in which it is grown. |
