From the prestigious Burgundy region of France, the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Duvault Blochet 1999 is a true masterpiece of Pinot Noir craftsmanship. This rare vintage comes in a 6-bottle case (75cl each), sourced directly en primeur (EP) and expertly stored under optimal conditions by Octavian. Presented in its original wooden case, this wine reflects the signature elegance and complexity of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, one of Burgundy’s most revered producers.

Tasting Notes: Rich, Spicy, and Minerally Perfection

On the nose, the 1999 Duvault Blochet offers a ripe, overtly spicy aroma, now softened and beautifully evolved, with no indication of sous-bois (forest floor). The palate reveals rich, round, and delicious middle-weight flavours, underpinned by a subtle yet expressive minerality. The focused finish expands gracefully across the palate, showcasing the wine’s remarkable balance and finesse. While this vintage has likely reached its peak, it promises to maintain this exceptional quality for another decade or more. Multiple tastings have confirmed consistent and compelling notes.

(With thanks to Dr. Reed Day). A ripe and overtly spicy nose is now completely secondary in character, though evidence shows no sous-bois. The rich, round and utterly delicious middle-weight flavours exhibit a subtle minerality on the focused finish that fans out as it sits on the palate. To my taste, this has now peaked, and there is little further development. This should have no problem holding at this level for another decade, perhaps even longer. Tasted multiple times with consistent notes.
