Winery | The Torre alle Comete wine grapes come from new vineyards near the Donoratico Tower. In 2018, Campo alle Comete was the pioneer in discovering this new sub-zone within the Bolgheri DOC. Their estate vineyard is located at the top of the hill, which has been planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (0.85 ha) and Cabernet Franc (1.34 ha). The vines are planted at 230 metres above sea level, one of the highest positions in the Bolgheri Superiore DOC. The vineyard offers a breathtaking view of the Etruscan coast from Livorno to the island of Elba. The vines benefit from excellent sunlight and warmth during the ripening season, which is gently cooled by the constant sea breeze, resulting in a vineyard which is well-ventilated even during the long summer days. As a result, the grapes produced offer excellent natural balance, with the concentrated flavours balanced by natural acidity. The vines are trained according to the Guyot method and while the vineyard is not organic, the preparations mostly involve only sulphur and copper. The grapes are hand-harvested |
