- A fresh, unoaked Tempranillo and Merlot blend that powerfully expresses its cool climate and mountain terroir. Mineral notes are layered with intense red fruit flavours and a hint of violet through to a deliciously long finish. Winter rainfall was high, replenishing the soil water reserves for the growing season. Spring was very warm, following through into a hot summer. As a result, the vine cycle was ahead of the previous year by 10 days. Towards the end of the ripening cycle, the weather turned cooler and dry, creating excellent conditions for the quality of the fruit. In 2020, the wines had less alcohol, good acidity and intense colour concentration.
Vinified following organic principles. The grapes were cold macerated before fermentation, which occurred in stainless steel tanks at 25°C, with gentle cap immersion lasting 10 days. The wine was racked by gravity to the concrete vats on the lower floor of the winery, where it went through malolactic conversion. Clarification occurred naturally through decantation. The wine was aged for a minimum of 24 months in concrete vats. Bottled by gravity with minimal filtration.

| Winery | Tandem's vineyard philosophy is based on sustainable farming and minimal intervention while maintaining the vineyard's health and viability. The natural conditions of the valley ensure that pesticide treatments can be kept to a minimum. They take the form of sulphur and copper, avoiding products made from synthetic chemicals. The vines are dry-farmed and undergo a green harvest to obtain lower yields, a key factor in achieving a greater concentration of the berries. The vines are trained using the Guyot method and are grown in clay loam soils. Harvesting occurs at optimal ripeness and during the coolest hours of the day so the grapes retain their freshness. |
