- An intense aroma combining ripe sloes and black fruit with a mineral lift and cigar box vanilla notes from the oak. Silky-textured and fresh in the mouth, with ample fruit fleshing out the supple structure. That rare thing: a single-vineyard Rioja, offering a powerful expression of black fruit, white chocolate, plums, and spices. These aromas are perfectly combined with the smokiness provided by French oak barrels. Round and full-bodied with an elegant, ripe structure and a long, silky, persistent finish.

A wine recommended for lovers of wines of high intensity, great complexity, and elegance in aromas and flavours, it is the best presentation card. It is a Rioja reserve red wine aged 24 months in French oak barrels that perfectly balances fruit, toast, and its pleasant finish. It is one of the only Rioja wines in Grandes Pagos of Spain and has 93 points in the Peñín Guide.
High intensity, cherry colour, and cardinal trim. Abundant, dense, and tinted tears. High intensity, with great complexity and elegance in the aromatic matrix, highlighting the mineral notes of red and black fruits and memories of incense. All this, together with the fine wood notes from French oak, such as vanilla, cedar, blonde tobacco, and spices. In the initial phase of taste, it denotes excellent softness and volume, developing an excellent tannic structure that makes it tasty and sapid. Graciano's freshness makes it more balanced concerning alcohol, showing a very long aftertaste and a pleasant finish. The spicy, fruity notes and those from the wood appear again through the retronasal route. Medium-cured cheeses. Stewed red meats, baked lamb, and large game dishes (roe deer and chamois). Mountain dishes such as mountain stew or pinto beans with pork.

Winery | Finca Valpiedra is a single Rioja Alta vineyard of spectacular quality – so good that the company decided to build a winery in the middle of it to look after its concentrated aromatic fruit. The 80-hectare estate is located on a meander in the river Ebro between Fuenmayor and Cenicero, on predominantly alluvial and pebbly soils. The three terraces of vineyards have a unique microclimate, retaining heat and humidity; the stones, “piedra”, greatly influence the quality of the wine. Here, the winery works more along the lines of a Bordeaux château than a typical Rioja bodega, and the estate is the only Rioja winery to be a member of Grandes Pagos de España – Great Single Estates of Spain. Cantos is a second wine that offers a youthful expression of this top-class terroir, whilst the Reserva contains a small percentage of Graciano and Maturana with ageing only in French oak barrels. Two recent additions to the range give further insight into this unique vineyard: Petra is a pure Garnacha, a rarity in this part of Rioja, while the Blanco Reserva is an extraordinary white blend, made from Viura vines over 120 years old, complemented by three other local varieties. |
