Chateau Saint Romans is a well-reputed 45-hectare estate whose history dates back to the 17th century. The average age of the estate's vines is 40 years, and its vineyards are mostly planted on the finest clay-limestone and gravel soils. The estate is predominantly planted with Merlot, with much care given to the vines, which undergo careful pruning, de-budding, and green pruning. The estate is sustainably cultivated and holds the HVE certification. Chateau Saint Romans produces smooth, high-quality drinking Claret.

The vineyard is situated on a plain, where the vines are double Guyot trained and undergo careful pruning, de-budding and green harvesting to control the yields and concentrate the flavours in the berries. The soils are predominantly clay-limestone and gravel; this clayey-siliceous terroir imparts structure and ageing potential. Chateau Saint-Romans holds the Haute Valeur Environmental (HVE) certification, which officially recognises the environmental performance of winegrowers, including biodiversity conservation, plant protection strategies, managed fertiliser use and water resource management.
