Martin Foradori Hofstatter took over the winery from his parents in 1992. He embarked on an era of modernisation and expansion of the winery with his wife. Built in 1998, the cellar tower has become an unobtrusive but nevertheless defining feature of the Tramin village alongside the imposing parish steeple tower. With great vision and entrepreneurial spirit, Martin Foradori Hofstatter increasingly expands the family estate. 2014, he acquired the Weingut Dr. Fischer in Germany's Mosel wine region. With this, he realised a long-cherished dream of having world-class Riesling sites at his disposal. More recently, in 2017, he expanded to Trentino, the home of his ancestors. He purchased the Maso Michei farmstead in the Valle di Ronchi, a fascinating mountain area above Ala. Today, Tenuta J. Hofstatter is one of Alto Adige's largest family wine estates with unique, outstanding vineyards. Our family has always shaped the winery, and the winery equally shapes us. Our three children have grown up in the everyday life of our family business. After finishing their studies and gaining important work experience, they are eager to shape the winery's future.
We are looking forward to this joint challenge!

Winery | With fifty hectares of vineyards, Tenuta J. Hofstätter is one of the largest private wine estates in Alto Adige and yet manages to live up to its reputation for absolutely pristine quality. The vineyards are well and diversely sited at altitudes of 250-800 metres and, uniquely, on both sides of the Adige River. It is also meticulously run by fourth-generation Martin Foradori Hofstätter, whose ancestor Joseph founded the estate in 1907. With the region’s largest Gewurztraminer and Pinot Nero plantings, the winery is most readily associated with these varieties. Still, Pinots Bianco and Grigio, as well as a new Sauvignon Blanc, are produced with the same degree of care and success. The pinnacle is the single-vineyard Vigna S. Urbano Pinot Nero, planted in the 1950s by Martin’s father. His neighbours thought he was mad at the time; this is now one of the finest expressions of Pinot Noir in Alto Adige and Europe. |
