- About 50% aged in oak barrels the rest in barriques on their third or fourth time of use, for 12 months. After assemblage, the wine rests in bottle for several months
- With eloquent and clean tannins in the mouth, it comes across as full and vigorous, with a long and intense finish.
- Recalls plums and red cherries on the nose, followed by balsamic and salty notes on a background of ripe liquorice.
A significant part of the estate is cultivated according to organic principles, but our commitment to sustainability encompasses a broad range of initiatives, from the conservation of energy and water to the use of light, recyclable materials, participation in studies and research in collaboration with universities. Indeed, sustainability will continue to be a key part of our production approach, as will promoting the use of local, artisanal methods.
The Umani Ronchi story began in 1957 when Gino Umani Ronchi established a small farm in the heart of the Verdicchio Classico region. It was just a few years later that the Bianchi-Bernetti family purchased the farm and although they retained the original name, they have certainly put their own indelible stamp on it. An early focus on export coupled with a keen eye for expansion opportunities helped them to establish Umani Ronchi as the global brand that it is today. With 210 hectares under vine in Castelli di Jesi, Conero and Abruzzo, and a dedicated winemaking facility in each of these regions, they have achieved scale whilst still retaining an unwavering focus on typicity and quality. The result is a range of wines which highlights both the versatility and the quality potential of the Marche’s and Abruzzo’s native grape varieties.
