- This is the long-awaited introduction to the Primitivo di Tormaresca, which is perfect to enjoy by the glass, thanks to its pleasant character. NePriCa Primitivo has an intense ruby red colour with light purplish hues. It offers fruity aromas of red fruit, such as sour cherries and wild berry jam, blended with soft notes of liquorice and sweet spices. It has a smooth entry on the palate, defined by round tannins, is well-structured, and is sustained by well-balanced freshness.
The grapes were destemmed, crushed, and transferred into stainless steel tanks where alcoholic fermentation occurred over 8 – 10 days at a controlled temperature that did not exceed 26 °C (79 °F). Malolactic fermentation was completed by the beginning of winter. Neprica Primitivo was further aged in stainless steel tanks for approximately 8 months and an additional 4 months in a bottle.
It’s an intense ruby-red colour with violet hues. The nose offers predominant notes of red fruit, black cherries, plums, candied oranges, and delicate impressions of dog rose and liquorice. The attack is full and supple. NePriCa is savoury and well-structured on the palate, with a pleasant fruity finish.

Winery | In the mid-1990s, Piero Antinori travelled to Puglia with Renzo Cotarella on an exploratory trip that he says opened their eyes to the area’s potential. “It was immediately clear to us that though this region had a proud history and ancient grapes that dated back to the days of the Magna Graecia, it had yet to blossom fully in oenological terms.” Together, they took the reins of the Tormaresca estate in 2009, championing indigenous grape varieties from the Salento and Primitivo di Manduria DOC area in a new dawn of quality Puglian wine. The estate works with Fiano Pugliese, Negroamaro, Primitivo, and Aglianico – Masseria Maime is regularly one of Puglia’s best. The Chardonnay-ripe Pietra Bianca has been monikered the ‘Cervaro of the south’. Vineyards are planted unusually densely, giving extra depth to fresh, vibrant and elegant wines thanks to the abundant sunshine and wave-kissed terroir. |
