Quasar is produced for us exclusively from Bodegas Ondarre and demonstrate the quality of their Reservas and Gran Reservas which have won them worldwide acclaim.
The 2016 season started off with a dry and warmer winter than in average years, followed by a cold spring. Heavy rain during the early summer replenished the water reserves in the soil, ready for the warm summer that followed. The grapes were harvested with good phenological ripeness and flavour development along with balanced acidity and sugar levels.
The vineyards are made up of predminantly clay based soils with high iron and chalk content.
Each grape variety of this complex blend was fermented separately in temperature controlled vats. The fermentation lasted for 16 to 18 days at temperatures of between 28 to 30°C. The wine was matured for 16 months in American and French oak casks of the Bordeaux type.
