Certain names resonate strongly within Australian wine history and Jim Barry is one of them. Jim was the first qualified winemaker in the Clare Valley, graduating with a degree in oenology from the prestigious Roseworthy Agricultural College in 1947. Founded in 1959, Jim Barry Wines is still family owned, with three generations of Roseworthy graduates. Jim’s son Peter became managing director in 1985 and today Peter’s children Tom, Sam and Olivia are the winemaker, commercial manager and brand ambassador respectively. Voted ‘2020 Winery of the Year' at the Halliday Wine Companion Awards they produce highly acclaimed and award-winning wines.
The vineyards of Batailley today comprise about 60 hectares, dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon. Batailley is the flagship of the family Castéja and Borie-Manoux. Batailley's wine is an intensive Pauillac typically with blackcurrant and a robust body. The wine continues to obtain very high rankings and recommendations from the international wine press.

Château Cantenac Brown is without doubt one of the most original buildings in the Médoc. John-Lewis Brown bought the vineyard in Cantenac at the beginning of the 19th century and built a traditional Tudor style château reminiscent of his Scottish origins. Today Cantenac Brown has 42 hectares of sustainably cultivated vineyard located in the heart of the Margaux appellation, principally in the southern commune of Cantenac. The Cantenac Brown terroir is made up of gravel which ensures good drainage and Cabernets in particular do well in this soil; producing fine wines with intense bouquets which are suitable for ageing.
Domaine de l'Eglise is the oldest estate on Pomerol's famous plateau, first mentioned in the Vieux Papiers du Libournaisin 1589. Domaine de l'Eglise lies next to Pomerol's church a stones throw away from Château Petrus. In 1973 the château was acquired by the Castéja family. The round, fruity Domaine de l'Eglise wine has been among the most sought after in Pomerol for many years.
The Brezza family own 12.5 hectares of vines split between the commune of Barolo (in Cannubi, Castellero and Sarmassa), the two-hectare Santa Rosalia estate just outside the Barolo DOCG zone between Diano d’Alba and the town of Alba itself, and two further plots in Monforte d’Alba and Novello. In the cellar, winemaker Enzo Brezza follows a traditional approach with minimal intervention. In order to maintain freshness and purity, many of the wines are bottled with glass Vinolok closures.
