It is located in the Rosario Valley, between the coastal valleys of Casablanca and San Antonio. Our vineyards were planted in 1999 on the hillsides of this privileged area, making us among the pioneers of cool-climate Syrah production in Chile. Our vineyards in the Rosario Valley are located on the central coast of Chile. The valley, nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the slopes of the Coastal Mountains, is surrounded by a total of 16,000 hectares adjacent to the ocean. With ideal conditions to produce both red and white varieties, the 160 hectares of vines are located between 9 and 19 kilometres from the sea, at an altitude of just 260 meters a.s.l. Biological dynamic agriculture promotes the biodiversity of the flora and fauna, protecting the health of the agriculturists and the consumers. The agricultural field is conceived as an individual, with the earth, plants, animals, cosmos, and men coming together to form one organism. Sustainability is a stamp on all our projects, and we are committed to the environment and the community. To be true to our philosophy, we've chosen an agricultural style that is both organic and biodynamic.

Winery | We are a boutique biodynamic winery in the Rosario Valley, between the coastal valleys of Casablanca and San Antonio. Our vineyards were planted in 1999 on the hillsides of this privileged area, making us among the pioneers of cool-climate Syrah production in Chile. Matetic vineyards embody the pioneering spirit and vision of modern Chilean winemaking. This biodynamic project was founded in 1999 by the Matetic family, originally Croatian settlers who arrived in Chilean Patagonia in 1892. Having established themselves as farmers with extensive landholdings, the fourth generation of the family turned their attention to grapes. Confident of the attributes of the climate and soils in the El Rosario Valley of San Antonio, they planted 120 hectares of vines and now farm 160 hectares of coastal biodynamic vineyard. The Corallilo range forms the entry level: expressive, fruit-forward wines that showcase the varietal purity possible in this coastal terroir. Stepping up a level, “EQ” stands for equilibrium, the Spanish for balance; these wines are elegant, complex, and multi-layered and will age gracefully over many years. The flagship Matetic Syrah comes from the oldest vines on the estate and represents the pinnacle of the family’s achievement – indeed, arguably the peak for this great variety in Chile. |
