- This is a Light plum red with attractive oak spices, red plum, orange, and some oatmeal. Lovely ripeness of fruit on the palate; this has a fabulous balance of juicy ripe fruits with dark chocolate, orange, and strawberry, and red berries with crisp, clean acidity, powdery but light tannins, and undulating length of flavour on the extended finish. Aromas of spices, red plums, orange peel, and oatmeal fill the nose, followed by a sumptuous palate of juicy red cherries, dark chocolate, and strawberries. This wine has an enviable balance - taut, clean, crisp acidity with an undulating length of flavor and powdery but light tannins.

Analytical data
dry
The wine has a medium colour intensity of Ruby red. The nose is delicate and hints of dark cherries and musk sweets. There is a spice contribution from the wood of cinnamon and star anise. Savoury notes of the oregano, basil, and bay leaf found in a bolognese sauce round off the bouquet. The first taste impression is of the silkiness and fineness of the tannins. All the elements of the bouquet persist. The quality of the tannin profile shows the balanced wooding and gentle handling of the grapes during the ferment. It is fine-grained but lends strength and presence to the wine, not apparent from the entry.

Winery | Lothian Estate, situated in the mountainous realm of the cool Elgin Valley, was previously a protea farm that had been maintained more for its bountiful .shing and unspoiled beauty than for the proteas. Today, the estate is run by Gavin and Ewen Wilson, who hail from three generations of Cape winemakers, having grown up in their grandmother's home, as with its thick morning mist, rolling greenery, and waterways framed by towering peaks, one might mistake Elgin for Scotland, where they are originally from with its sights now .rmly set on crafting Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with finesse and elegance that reflects the unique landscape of the region, Lothian works closely with renowned winemaker and master of Wine -Richard Kershaw to produce these impressive single vineyard wines. |
