A quintessential Australian blend of 55% cabernet, the rest shiraz, this is a mid-weighted fighter, pushing to a higher weight across dark fruit aromas and the sheen of a warmer zone. Thankfully, the wine relishes in the joys of cabernet's restraining safeties: firm tannic guidelines and a savoury herbal undercarriage. This, among other wines in the range, exemplifies a gentler hand across pH management and oak. Kudos!

Medium to deep red colour without much purple tint remaining. The bouquet is very pepperminty, crushed-leafy and seems a little green. Green capsicum and raspberry cabernet. The palate is full-bodied, on the lean side, but the tannins are soft and supple. A curious style.

"I have always been fascinated by the way Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon interact when blended - the sum becoming greater than that of its parts. This wine shows the richness and generosity of Shiraz, with a backbone of structure provided by the Cabernet, to ensure a long future of up to 20 years. I first made this wine in 2002 as a personal bottling and my enjoyment of the blend has encouraged me to repeat the indulgence.”
