Conde Valdemar Rioja Gran Reserva 2011

Unusually for Rioja, all the Valdemar grapes come from the family’s own vineyards (almost 300 hectares), giving unrivalled control over the quality of the fruit at every level. Grapes for the Gran Reserva are grown in Oyón (Rioja Alavesa), Logroño (Rioja Alta) and Ausejo (Rioja Baja). The wine was aged for thirty months in French oak barriques.

This wine displays an attractive red cherry colour with a garnet rim. It has complex aromas of spices, balsamic touches of cedar and eucalyptus reminiscent of Atlantic woods, as well as hints of tobacco. Elegant, very well balanced, extremely expressive and showing a fine character.

This wine matches perfectly with red meat, stews and roasted food as well as game. Particularly suited for cold meats and dry cheeses.
