- This wine has a strong aroma of plum, cherry, and spice, with hints of rosemary and vanilla. It is full-bodied yet soft and balanced, with ripe fruit flavours in an easy-drinking style. The 2022 vintage had a mild winter with medium to low rainfall, followed by a mild spring that allowed the grapes to ripen steadily. The warm summer winds from Africa, combined with low rainfall, kept the grapes healthy. The August night-time temperature range greatly benefited the grapes, resulting in excellent maturity and wines with low yields per hectare, showing great polyphenolic ripeness and varietal expression.
The grapes underwent temperature-controlled maceration for approximately 10 days to extract the desired level of colour, flavour and fine tannins. Alcoholic fermentation took place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with selected yeasts. The wine was made in an unoaked style to preserve the vibrancy of fruit and varietal characteristics.
An intense aroma of plum, cherry and spice, with hints of rosemary and vanilla. It is a full-bodied yet soft and balanced wine with ripe fruit flavours in an easy-drinking style.

Winery | The vineyard is approximately 100 meters above sea level, with high average temperatures and medium-low rainfall. The soft soil layer is clayey and quite thin, with a good presence of rocks. The grapes are harvested during the first week of September when they have reached optimal ripeness. In 1962, 19 vine growers from San Marzano whose families had farmed the land for generations combined their efforts to establish 'Cantine San Marzano'. Through the decades, this cooperative has grown significantly, attracting over 1,200 top-quality vine growers. They produce elegant wines that pay homage to the ancient Apulian wine traditions using modern and technologically advanced vinification techniques. The fusion of time-honoured tradition, passion, and contemporary techniques enables this winery to produce wines with distinctive varietal and regional characteristics while reflecting the local terroir. In 2021, San Marzano was awarded the ‘Cooperative Winery of the Year Award’ by Gambero Rosso. |
