- Refined and complex, with aromas of wild raspberry, black cherries, and a hint of spice. The richly fruited palate is beautifully balanced, with polished tannins and a savoury note on the finish. The 2019 growing season varied greatly. After a harsh, dry winter, the vines began growing very early, starting in March. A cold, rainy period followed, which resulted in the water reserves being restored in preparation for what was to be a hot, dry summer. The grapes were in excellent physiological shape at harvest: healthy grapes showed superb phenolic ripeness and exquisite aromas.

Silver, IWSC, 2022
The grapes were carefully selected and destemmed, with each variety being vinified separately. Fermentation took place with selected yeasts at controlled temperatures of 30°C. Vinification took place in stainless steel tanks to retain the purity of the fruit and the expression of the Maremma terroir. After pressing, the wine was put into oak tonneaux and barriques of second and third passage for 15 to 18 months. The wine then received further bottle ageing before being released.
It is refined and complex, with aromas of wild raspberry, black cherries, and a hint of spice. The richly fruited palate is beautifully balanced, with polished tannins and a savoury note on the finish.

Winery | The vineyard is situated in DOCG Morellino di Scansano, in the hilly environs of the village of Scansano, in the Maremma region of coastal Tuscany. Morellino is the local name for the Sangiovese grape variety. The vineyard is planted at 150 to 180 metres above sea level. The microclimate benefits from mistral winds, which have a cooling and ventilating effect on the vines, imparting natural freshness to the grapes while keeping the canopies healthy. The spur-cordon-trained vines are predominantly orientated to the southeast to maximise sun exposure, encouraging the grapes to reach optimal phenolic maturity. The vines are planted at a density of 5680 per hectare and benefit from the sandy soil, rich in sandstone and fairly homogeneous; it is a warm, generally airy soil with good drainage properties. The combination of these factors allows for the slow and gradual ripening of the grapes, resulting in a wine of great freshness and balance. The vines are hand-harvested in three tranches between mid-September and late October. |
