  • A full-flavored and perfumed wine showing notes of ripe cassis with elegant cedar and chocolate notes and a fine, velvety texture.

The grapes are grown on hillside plots, on clay limestone soil. The clay component retains moisture and nourishes the vines through the warm, summers while the limestone imparts elegance to the resulting wines. The vineyard is orientated towards a southern exposure, which captures exceptional sunshine, over 300 days per year, which enables the grapes to reach excellent maturity and concentration. The Mediterranean is less than 25 miles away, which influences the vines with cooling oceanic breezes. The vineyard is surrounded by scrubland, with thyme, lavender, rosemary and almond, fig, cherry and olive trees all contributing to the aromatic complexity of the wines. Debudding takes place in May, with green harvesting in July, encouraging the vines to concentrate the flavours in the remaining grapes. The harvest takes place by hand, with two harvests taking place in September. The vines are approximately 40 years old and produce an average yield of 30 hectolitres per hectare.

Domaine La Rouviole is located in the renowned Cru La Livinière area of Minervois, not far from Carcassone in the Languedoc. For over 70 years, the estate has been in the hands of the Léonor family. In 2020, the domain was acquired by M. et Mme Bour, who
plan to invest in the vineyard and cellar to further increase the quality of these lovely terroir-driven wines. Franck Léonor remains as the winemaker, where he skilfully crafts blends of Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault and Carignan from the finest and oldest plots on
the estate. The estate, which covers just over 40 hectare estate, includes vines, garrigue and olive trees which flourish in the Mediterranean climate. Great care is taken to hand-harvest the grapes at optimum ripeness and to express the terroir of the
area. The wines have been certified organic since the 2011 vintage.
