2018 Gevrey-Chambertin “Lavaut St. Jacques”: Here too the oak is quite subtle and easily allows the more sauvage-inflected aromas of forest floor and various dark berry scents to be appreciated. Once again the mid-palate of the slightly bigger and richer flavors is very supple and rounded that also contrast somewhat with the ever-so-slightly edgy finale. This may well harmonize in time as the edginess is not really intrusive.
