Mahi Boundary Farm Sauvignon Blanc 2016
£110.71 Price Per Case ( 6 Bottles )
A fine expression of a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc: good value, well balanced, and pleasant flavours.
A real summery glass, this wine pairs well with light fish flavours, or crumbly cheeses like goat’s cheese and feta.
The Mahi vineyard is the realisation of a dream for husband and wife winemaker team Brian and Nicola Bracknell. Its name - meaning “our work” or “our craft” - points to how much of themselves they have invested in delivering quality wines.
This is one of our more popular Sauvignon Blancs, and will please newcomers to the style as much as seasoned connoisseurs.

Establishing Mahi, meaning our work, our craft, was a long-held dream for Brian and Nicola Bicknell. A seasoned international winemaker, Brian made Mahis first vintage in 2001, and in 2006 they finally purchased a winery in the very heart of Marlborough. It is the texture of these wines that particularly impresses; while far from heavy, they have a sense of substance that places them among the very best in Marlborough.
This wine comes from a small hillside parcel on the southeast boundary of the township of Blenheim. The vineyard is run by Perry and Stephanie Gilbert, who also live on the property, ensuring great attention to detail. The north-facing aspect maximises sunshine exposure. The grapes were hand-picked.
The grapes were whole-cluster pressed straight to French barriques without any chemical additions. The juice was fermented with indigenous yeast in the barrels (twelve percent new). The wine was left on yeast lees for eleven months, with regular stirring. After eleven months in barrique it was gently racked then bottled.
This wine displays a combination of tropical and herbal notes on the nose. On the palate the influence of the wild yeast and oak component combine to give lifted grapefruit characters and some barrel creaminess. A rich, full style of Sauvignon Blanc.
The 2014 Boundary Farm Sauvignon Blanc has some not unpleasant sweaty/sulfide suggestions to begin, soon giving way to notes of grapefruit, peaches and apples plus some cedar and dried herb hints. Medium-bodied with a lovely satiny texture, honeyed toast nuances come through on the intensely flavored palate, contributing to the long, layered finish. 92 points, The Wine Advocate , February 2017
