Jim Barry Wines The Florita Riesling 2023 is a refined, single‑vineyard Riesling from the storied Florita Vineyard in South Australia’s Clare Valley. Derived from individual rows planted on shallow loamy soils over deep limestone, this micro‑batch wine exemplifies the purity and precision of Clare Valley Riesling. 

Tasting Notes – Bright, Elegant & Mineral-Driven

• Nose / Aromas: Intensely floral, with lifted notes of jasmine, elderflower, honeysuckle, and white river stone. 

• Palate: Driven by pristine, glass‑rod precision, flavours of fresh lime juice, ripe lemon, and wild citrus combine with wet-stone minerality and a talc-like texture. 

• Finish: A long, commanding finish with laser‑focused acidity and a fine, structured grip that speaks to its ageing potential. 

• Technical Details: 100% Riesling; 12.3% ABV; total acidity 7.6 g/L; pH 2.9. 

• Cellaring: Recommended to cellar for up to 25+ years; the 2023 vintage can evolve to 2051 with graceful maturity. 

• Serving Suggestion: Best served chilled around 8 °C, allowing the delicate floral and mineral notes to shine.

Winemaking & Vineyard Story

‘Florita’ means “little flower” in Spanish, a fitting name for this historic vineyard just south of Clare township. Originally planted in 1946 for Palomino (used for sherry), the site was replanted to Riesling in 1962

Jim Barry’s winemakers Tom Barry and Ben Marx hand‑select individual vineyard rows, harvesting in the cool of the night to preserve freshness and purity. The grapes are destemmed gently (without crushing) and pressed, then fermented cool to highlight the terroir’s limestone minerality.
