An aromatic and mineral wine showing flavours of peach, melon and pear enveloped in a creamy texture and enlivened by a touch of white pepper.

Producer Note

One of the main protagonists in the renaissance of Southern Italian wines, Feudi di San Gregorio has carved out a reputation for making truly world-class wines in less than 30 years. The company began in the mid 1980s with the aim of safeguarding local traditions and unlocking the potential of key indigenous grapes such as Fiano, Greco, Falanghina and Aglianico.

Vintage

The climate was stable in 2018 and water reserves from winter snowfall nourished the vines throughout the warm growth period. Good diurnal temperature differences were noted, which helped to build flavor concentration and balancing acidity in the fruit. The whites were harvested in mid September in order to preserve the acidity, with excellent results. The reds were harvested slightly later and show fresh, vibrant wines. Overall 2018 is considered to be a good vintage.

Vineyard

The beautiful Feudi di San Gregorio vineyards are spread out over lush and gentle hills in Sorbo Serpico, approximately an hour from Naples and Mount Vesuvius. The soils are uniquely volcanic, sandstone and marl. Each vineyard is closely monitored with a meteorological station and combined with the technologies of the new stateof-the-art wine cellar; they ensure that each vintage comes as close to perfection as possible. The soil in the vineyard is predominantly chalky Tufo soil, which imparts wonderful elegance to the resulting wine.

Winemaking

The grapes were harvested at optimal maturity. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures of between 16° to 18°C, to preserve the varietal characteristics of the Greco variety. This was followed by four months maturation on its lees, adding complexity and texture, which took place in stainless steel tanks.

Tasting Note

A rich and powerfully aromatic nose reminiscent of apricot, peach and tropical melon leads to a creamy palate, harmoniously balanced with a refreshing minerality.
