Producer Note
Ktima Gerovassiliou is the brainchild of Evangelos Gerovassiliou. He initiated the revival of the family vineyard by planting the nearly extinct Malagousia in 1981. This state of the art winery is now surrounded by 70 hectares of meticulously well cared vineyards on the slopes of Epanomi. Ktima Gerovassiliou guarantees consistent, high quality wines of international acclaim every year and his Malagousia remains the benchmark to this day. Vineyard
The vineyards are cultivated with great care and enthusiasm that leads Evangelos Gerovassiliou to constantly research and experiment with Greek and foreign varieties. New technological advances blend well with tradition throughout vine growing and vinification processes. The aim is to produce high quality wines exclusively from estategrown grapes, wines that carry all distinct characteristics of the specific microclimate of Epanomi. Winemaking
Fermented according to the classic red fermentation method and then aged in French oak barrels. Tasting Note
The wine is quite dark ruby and concentrated, elegant, with a pronounced bouquet of black fruits (flavors of ripe plum, cherry) and spices. On the palate the wine offers gentle tannins enhanced with great fruit intensity, yet round and harmonious. The finish is spicy, long and persistent. Serving Suggestion
Particularly well suited with roast pork, poultry, richly flavoured meat and game dishes. A perfect companion for many savoury dishes and matured cheeses.
