Producer Note
Weingut Weegmüller has over 300 years of winemaking history. The Weegmüller sisters Stefanie and Gabrielle have excelled in making delicious wines from the Palatinate region for over 30 years. Having started in 1984, owner Stefanie was one of the first female winemakers in Germanys wine industry. Not only has she mastered all the technical aspects of winemaking, but she brings both heart and soul to her work. Gabrielle carefully manages the commercial aspects of the business. The vineyards are farmed organically and the yields are restricted to gain concentration and weight, resulting in wines that are wonderfully rich and food friendly.

Vintage
The 2015 vintage was characterised by a very dry winter and spring, with less than 60% of the usual rainfall in the period leading up to May. June and July were extremely hot. Rainfall events finally occurred at the end of August, bringing much needed relief just before the harvest started. Due to the hot summer, the grapes ripened earlier than usual and the harvest started at the end of August. Most of the 2015 wines have a little more alcohol than usual, but the sugar and acidity are well balanced and they have the potential to age well.

Vineyard
The Scheurebe (pronounced "sh-oy-rebe") grapes are produced in the outstanding vineyard sites of the Mittelhaardt. Almost 90% of Weingut Weegmüller's vineyards are located in the top classified region of Haardt. This district takes its name from the lowlying Haardt mountains, which play a vital role in the terroir here. The soils are made up of marl, loam and clay.

Winemaking
Harvested by hand when the grapes had reached optimal maturity, the juice was fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve the freshness and aromatic characteristics of the Sheurebe grape.

Tasting Note
This 100% Scheurebe wine is enticingly fragrant, with irresistibly intense aromas. Notes of mandarin and blood orange combine with delicate spicy flavours. This is refreshingly crisp on the palate, with a lifted, aromatic finish.

Serving Suggestion
A great match with lightly spiced Asian cuisine, melon with Parma ham, shellfish in a tomato based sauce and summer salads.
