Vintage

While 2017 had a dry summer with lots of berries and not much juice, 2018 had enough occasional rain to fill the grapes with juice. The harvests took place under excellent conditions, delivering good quality crops and bringing 2018 in line with previous years; with the promise of a very good vintage.

Vineyard

The contrasted region of the Languedoc Roussillon produces fruity wines which represent the exceptional diversity of terroirs. The grapes for the 6ème Sens Rouge are grown in the foothills of the Corbières and Minervois. Here, the sunny climate and proximity to the Mediterranean, offer the ideal landscape for vine growing. The typical Southern French varieties are grown soils that are predominantly clay limestone.

Winemaking

The grapes were vinified separately. A proportion of the Syrah underwent carbonic maceration which preserved the integrity of the aromas and ensured a fruity style. The remainder of the grapes were destemmed, followed by traditional maceration and fermentation in stainless steel tanks under carefully controlled temperatures, up to a maximum of 25°C. Following fermentation, the wines were matured with a proportion being aged in French oak barrels and the remainder in vats to preserve the fruity aromas.

Tasting Note
