Domaine René Monnier is a leading and sought-after producer situated in the heart of Meursault. With over 18 hectares of vineyard in the most prestigious Crus of the
Côte de Beaune, Domaine René Monnier is one of the largest privately owned domains in the region. Founded in 1723, the domain is now in the hands of the tenth
generation, with all the wines being skilfully made by Xavier Monnot. Domaine René Monnier's white wines are fresh and stylish avoiding an excessive use of oak, while
the reds are the epitome of fine Burgundy demonstrating the balanced, silky style of this house.
A mild winter was followed by a mild spring. The 2015 warm summer saw early flowering, with rapid development. Ripening was slowed due to hot July temperatures, but rain at the end
of the month eased drought pressures. A cooler August allowed ripening to advance. Fine weather during the September harvest resulted in superb quality fruit with excellent phenolic
The vineyards are farmed according to "La lutte raisonnée", using sustainable agricultural methods, reducing the use of chemicals in order to respect the land and its environment. Great
attention is paid to limiting the yields in the vineyards, to produce wines with great balance. The soils in the vineyard are limestone mixed with marl, retaining moisture in dry weather,
but also offering good drainage in cooler weather.
The grapes were harvested at optimum maturity. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks to retain the purity of fruit and fresh aromatics, prior to a long ageing on
the lees, which gave the wine a full, rounded style.
Elegant style of Chardonnay with a lovely weight from the lees ageing and balanced oak flavours. Quite a rich style with a touch of minerality on the finish. A petit Meursault.
Delicious, served chilled at 10 to 12°C to accompany white meats, fish and shellfish or as an apéritif.
