Producer Note

Gérard Bertrand is one of the most outstanding winemakers in the South of France, where he owns numerous estates among the most prestigious crus of LanguedocRoussillon. Formerly the IWC Red Winemaker of the Year and Wine Enthusiast's European Winery of the Year, he is known locally as the "King" of the Languedoc. Brought up in the Languedoc vineyards, Gérard Bertrand is committed to sharing the characteristics and exceptional diversity of each of the terroirs. 20 years of expertise ensures that wines bearing Gérard Bertrand's signature have a unique style, driven by the fundamental values of excellence, authenticity, conviviality and innovation. We are proud to represent this leading French name in the UK.

Vineyard

From the beautiful landscapes of the South of France, the Naturalys collection of wines is produced entirely from organic grapes, grown in the terroir of the Languedoc and nourished by the Mediterranean sun. Gérard Bertrand's commitment to sustainable agriculture has been recognised with the ECOCERT certification, guaranteeing organic production, environmentally-friendly packaging and a low carbon footprint. The soils in the vineyard are clay-limestone, which tend to stay cooler and help to retain moisture, beneficial in this warm climate site.

Winemaking

The grapes were harvested by hand when they reached peak maturity. The fruit was lightly pressed to extract the finest juices, then a portion of the juice was cold settled for 48 hours. A proportion of the must was fermented in barrels, while the rest took place in temperature controlled stainless steel vats, maximising the fruit's rich aromas and freshness. The wine was gently fined before bottling.
