The Domaine de l'Elite is part of Domaine Creusserome, a family winery located in the south of Burgundy near Clessé. Established in 2007 they produce traditionally crafted wines from 33 hectares of vineyard in the communes of Viréand Peronne.
2016 was generally a challenging vintage due to damaging hailstorms and widespread frosts which resulted in lower yields. Fine weather in September helped to rescue this vintage. The fruit that remained was good quality, without extremes of acidity, alcohol or fruit concentration, resulting in a classic style of Burgundy.
The Mâcon-Villages appellation covers white wines produced in selected communes of the Mâconnais wine area in southern Burgundy. These vines are grown in claylimestone soils.
The grapes were harvested at optimum maturity and then fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks, in order to preserve the integrity of the aromatics and flavour profiles of the grapes along with the nuances of the Mâcon terroir from which they hail.
An easy drinking style showing an aromatic and floral nose, leading to fresh fruits on the palate with a touch of crisp minerality and a whistle clean bitter lemon finish.
A refreshing apéritif, but also has enough fruit to accompany poultry served in a creamy sauce; fish and fresh seafood dishes. Wonderful with pan-fried salmon.
