Producer Note
At Château Lestrille, Estelle Roumage makes modern, fruit-driven wines. They use sustainable winegrowing practices to respect the balance of the soil as they believe the essence of winemaking lies in the vineyard itself. They vinify each plot on their 45 hectare property separately with tailor-made precision. The Château is located at the northern point of the Entre-deux-Mers appellation in the small town of St. Germain du Puch between Libourne and Bordeaux. Vineyard
For Lestrille the best wines come from respect of the land, fruit and people, so sustainable practices are used throughout the vineyards. A good proportion of clay in the soil gives the Merlots a good depth in the final wine. Winemaking
This Clairet is a good example of a fruity rosé with a excellent depth and an original combination of tradition, - the old Bordeaux word Clairet means clear or light red wine in French- and modern winemaking. The grapes underwent skin contact for a period of 12 hours to obtain the rich, deep colour of the wine. This wine was made through the "saignée" or bleeding method, with a cool fermentation preserving the aromatics and purity of flavour. The wine was then aged on its lees adding complexity and weight to the palate. Tasting Note
