Gérard Bertrand is one of the most outstanding winemakers in the South of France,
where he owns numerous estates among the most prestigious crus of Languedoc-
Roussillon. Named in 2012 as the IWC Red Winemaker of the Year and Wine
Enthusiast's European Winery of the Year, he is known locally as the "King" of the
Languedoc. Brought up in the Languedoc vineyards, Gérard Bertrand is committed

The contrasted region of the Languedoc Roussillon produces fruity wines which
represent the exceptional diversity of terroirs. The grapes for the 6ème Sens Rouge
are grown in the foothills of the Corbières and Minervois. Here, the sunny climate and
proximity to the Mediterranean, offers the ideal landscape for vine growing. The
typical Southern French varieties are grown soils that are predominantly clay
The grapes were hand-picked and then underwent a carbonic maceration which
preserved the integrity of the aromas and ensured a fruity style. Fermentation took
place in stainless steel tanks under carefully controlled temperatures, with a
maximum of 25°C. Following the fermentation, the wines were matured with 20%
being aged in French oak barrels, before blending.
