- A gastronomic Sancerre showing complex and elegant aromas of flint, candied lemon, pineapple, blackcurrant bud, almond, and light smoky notes lead to a classy freshness, chiseled palate, and a long finish.
The Fleuriet family has been living in Sancerre since the French Revolution and has a long history of farming, initially cattle, then as goat’s cheesemakers, grain, and latterly as vignerons, when in 1991 their first vines were planted. Renaissance Fleuriet Freres was established in 2014 when brothers Benoit and Matthieu Fleuriet helped their close friend Stephane Marchand, who could no longer maintain his 7-hectare vineyard,
which covers the most beautiful terroirs of Sancerre. They invested in the vineyards to restore them to their former glory, replanting some vines and turning to organic cultivation to preserve the terroir, environment, and biodiversity. The vineyard is certified organic and in 2023 will be certified biodynamic. The name ‘Renaissance’ is evocative of their journey and honors the revival of the vineyards. Their wines are vinified with
minimal intervention in a gravity-fed winery, are refreshing, with wonderful purity, and beautifully showcase the nuances of the Sancerre terroir.

Winery | The grapes come from the single vineyard called Cote de l'Epee, a south-facing vineyard which is situated at 250 meters above sea level, in the Sancerre appellation. The vines have an average age of 50 years and are planted at a density of between 8,000 to 10,000 vines per hectare, which yield between 40-45 hl/ha. The soils are made up of a combination of Terres Blanches with calcareous subsoil. The vineyard is certified organic, chemical preparations are not employed and the vineyard is in conversion to biodynamic certification. The biodynamic philosophy recognizes the connection between all living things, the importance of biodiversity, and sustainability, following the lunar cycles, earth rhythms, astrology, and the interconnection between these energy sources to dictate the timing of viticultural activity. The vineyard is cultivated manually, with the exception of ploughing and the grapes are hand-harvested. |
