Product Overview – A Distinctive Malbec from Mendoza, Argentina

El Camino Mendoza Malbec 2023 is a vibrant, full-bodied red wine that highlights the exceptional quality of Argentina’s most iconic grape variety. Sourced exclusively from the world-renowned Mendoza region, this wine combines bold, ripe fruit character with subtle oak complexity to create an exceptionally smooth and enjoyable drinking experience.

Crafted for Malbec lovers, this vintage is a perfect example of a well-balanced, easy-drinking red wine that still delivers depth and structure. Whether you’re hosting a dinner or looking for a quality red for mid-week enjoyment, El Camino Malbec ticks every box.

Tasting Notes – Rich Plum, Subtle Spice, and a Silky Finish

El Camino Malbec 2023 opens with expressive aromas of plum jam and dark berries, followed by a generous palate layered with flavours of ripe black plum, blackberry, and gentle baking spice. Hints of vanilla and a touch of smokiness add complexity and finesse, leading into a dry, lingering finish supported by balanced acidity and soft tannins.

Vineyard & Winemaking – High-Altitude Freshness from Mendoza

The 2023 vintage benefitted from ideal growing conditions in Mendoza, starting with a cool spring that promoted steady flowering and fruit set. A wet February prolonged the ripening period, allowing the grapes to develop full flavour concentration while retaining natural acidity. By harvest in March, warm days and cool nights helped preserve freshness and complexity.

This thoughtful viticultural approach results in a bright, fruit-forward wine that reflects Mendoza’s signature terroir – high altitude, strong sunlight, and rocky soils.

Food Pairing – Best Dishes to Serve with Malbec

El Camino Malbec 2023 is an incredibly food-friendly wine. Ideal pairings include:

  • Grilled ribeye steak or BBQ lamb chops

  • Roasted root vegetables with herbs

  • A rustic charcuterie board with cured meats and hard cheeses

This wine also makes an excellent choice for casual gatherings, Sunday roasts, or hearty vegetarian dishes.

The vineyards are located around Costa de Araujo, northeast of Mendoza. The climate is semi-desert, with low annual rainfall. The area is influenced by its proximity to the Andes Mountains, where the melted snow flows through irrigation channels to nourish the vines during the hot summer months. The strong wind, known locally as the Zonda, usually occurs during May and November and brings warmer temperatures, often followed by cooler ones, requiring vigilance in the vineyard. The soils are mainly clay, which has good water retention properties and is ideal for this warm climate.

El Camino - the King's Highway - threads mythically through the foothills of the majestic Andes among vineyards famed for the purity of their growing conditions. Combining these superb vineyard sites, the dedication and expertise of the local viticulturists and winemakers and a touch of European know-how results in wines of real intensity.
