The Dolcetto vines were planted between 2000 and 2007, on a south-easterly facing plot of 0.83 hectares. The vines are trained according to the Guyot method and yield a maximum of 90 quintals per year. The soils are partly marl-clay and partly sandstone marl. The different combination of soil types within the same sub-zone creates a structural diversity which is reflected in the characteristics of the wine. The vines are cultivated sustainably; Costa di Bussia holds the SQNPI certification, which governs the use of phytosanitary processes and irrigation in the vineyard as well as full traceability of the grapes used in the wine production to ensure compliance.
Since 1988, the Costa di Bussia winery and vineyards have been owned and meticulously managed by the Sartirano family. The estate is situated in the Bussia region near the village of Monforte d'Alba. The vineyard is sustainably cultivated, with integrated crop management certified by SQNPI. The estate includes 15 hectares of the famous vineyards of ‘Campo dei Buoi’ and ‘Campo del Gatto’, which produce very special and complex wines.
