Case size 6 / 75cl - This wine displays an attractive and intense red ruby color, clean and bright. Intense and complex aromas of concentrated black fruit. Hints of coffee, black licorice, truffle, and balsamic notes of eucalyptus. Elegant, smooth, and tasty, with a strong personality and a very long aftertaste.
Bodegas Valdemar is a family company whose roots date back to 1889, and whose Riojas has long been a reference point for the DO. Despite this their approach is very much forward-looking; having pioneered many techniques in the region, from barrel fermentation and temperature control to saignée-method rosado, their style tends towards the modern.
Fincas Valdemacuco is the first foray outside Rioja for Bodegas Valdemar, who have poured over a century of winemaking experience into this new venture from Spain’s other great Tempranillo-producing region. The grapes come from selected vineyards in the Nava de Roa district near the Duero river itself, and offer a distinctive clarity and freshness of fruit, which sensitive winemaking and a brief passage in oak barrels have served to enhance.
