Carpineto's Montalcino estate is one of the highest in the appellation at an altitude of around 500 metres above sea level. The single vineyard 'Vigneto Paradiso' is planted with Sangiovese Grosso on a dry-farmed hillside with a northern exposure. Planted at a density of 2.20 x 0.90 metres, which is the equivalent of over 5,000 vines per hectare, the vines are trained on a unilateral cordon system. The sedimentary soil has a galestro frame with clay accumulations dating to the Eocene era, some 15 million years ago, which provides good drainage. The vines are sustainably farmed and the vines have moss growing underneath them, which encourages soil biodiversity. The fruit is handpicked at optimum maturity. The unique microclimate, in this panoramic setting, produces fine wines with elegance, minerality and great longevity.

Established in Greve in Chianti in 1967 by the Sacchet and Zaccheo families, Carpineto farms 500 hectares of sustainably farmed land, spread amongst five carbon neutral estates in the regions of Chianti Classico, Alto Valdarno, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano,
Brunello di Montalcino and Maremma. Carpineto holds the VIVA certification for sustainability, and is accredited ISO 14001 and IFS. Formerly IWSC Italian Wine Producer of the Year, Carpineto was also the first ever Italian winery to be awarded the IWSC
International Winemaker of the Year. Antonio Zaccheo is now assisted by his son Antonio and daughter Francesca, who have both previously worked in the wine trade in the USA. Giovanni Sacchet's daughter, Caterina, joined the Carpineto winemaking team after finishing her viticultu
