When considering the offerings of Broglia, Gavi La Meirana stands out as the most exemplary and traditional in its production, signified by the inclusion of the estate's name, La Meirana, on its label. The wine is crafted in large stainless steel tanks with precise temperature control. Exclusively utilizing grapes from the municipality of Gavi, the winemaking process at Broglia involves allowing the grapes to mature for six months in steel on their lees to preserve their fresh and fruity aromas. The fermentation, at temperatures ranging from 12°C to 16°C, is designed to retain the wine’s fresh fragrance and fruitiness. Organic analysis underscores La Meirana's expression of exceptional characteristics emblematic of the Gavi area, notably manifesting a distinctive almond aftertaste. Ideal pairings for the wine include fish-based dishes and white meats. La Meirana presents a full-bodied and fresh palate, culminating in a gratifying almond-like finish.

Winery | The most characteristic example of Piedmont’s native Cortese grape is that it comes from around Gavi, and the wines made closest to the city bear the distinguished double moniker Gavi di Gavi. The La Meirana is all about freshness and vitality, with apple, citrus and mineral aromas. At the same time, the Bruno Broglia bottling is weightier due to low yields from 50- to 70-year-old vines. Vecchia Annata is sourced from the oldest vines, aged 85 months on lees, in the tank, which retains freshness while giving the wine scintillating depth. The newest addition to the range is a Timorasso, a native Piemontese white variety rescued from extinction in the late 1980s. Characterful and profound, Broglia’s version won a Decanter Trophy for its debut vintage. |
